The Various Factions


There are two types of factions, Player-Made Factions, and Canon Factions.

Canon Factions, in the grand scheme of things, are planned out and can be interacted with. Along with having quests and storylines, these can essentially end up creating interests and drama amongst the server. They are Staff-GM’d and joinable, and keep everything fresh and fun.

        Player-Made factions require at least four players to form, and can be made into any idea those players come up with, as long as it makes sense. Gangs in the Wastelands, or crime syndicates in the cities, are good examples of potential factions that make sense. If they become large enough, Player-Made factions could issue their own questlines, managed by the leaders of the faction.

        Interactions and standings with such factions are completely determined by the player interactions with them.

        To get a faction of your own, DM a staff member with your ideas, and if it meets teh requirements, it can and will be an active part of the Universe.

The Sons of Columbia

The awakening of RAPTURE left the government and military forces of the United States in disarray, with a broken chain of command, no reliable means of communication, and a castrated force. From the ashes rose the Sons of Columbia.

 Remnants of the US Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Guard, as well as local police and emergency services have banded together in an effort to rid the country of RAPTURE. Organized, and with some uniformity, the Sons of Columbia will use whatever they can in the field. Weapons and equipment manufactured before the Awakening, scavenged materials from the wastes, and weapons taken from the fallen enemies, are employed by the soldiers of the Sons of Columbia.

The Acolytes of Rapture

        It isn’t any wonder that with a being that hails itself as a god, and expects people to believe itself as such, multiple cult groups popped up. Such as Esoteric Junkers that functioned in the wastelands, or completely insane Shiloh citizens that perform group activities and worship, all generalized as the Acolytes of RAPTURE. 



 There is barely a chain of command within such groups, as they are all variously scattered around the world. They generally follow the same tenets and beliefs. Understanding the Acolytes is complicated, and usually requires being initiated as an Acolyte.

The Acolytes of Rapture is usually a wide blanket term for those who believe in RAPTURE as a god. This faction is highly fragmented, with many, many different subfactions, such as the Vivadian Wonderers. These factions range from peaceful monks, to traveling war tribes. They exist both within the city, and without.

  • The highest form of Acolytes reside inside the Data-Hive, labeled as the Guardians of God. They work alongside with the RAPTURE AI proxies themselves, generally securing the Data-Hive and securing it, weeding out any attempts of infiltration. They are scattered about the Data-Hive, however, not all work on securing the sectors of the mechanical beast. Some reside in the section of the Data-Hive known as ‘Hades.’ Outer-Hades is the biggest worship point for the Acolytes.
  • Functioning in Shiloh, Middle-Weight possess its own share of Acolytes, scattered amongst street-gangs and citizens,. Preaching of RAPTURE’s complete grasp upon Shiloh, and Self-Xenophobia. This branch, or group, is referred to as Deacons. These groups are usually arrested by the local PD.
  • Prophets reside inside Outer-Edge, sprinkled across the downtown crime-littered part of Shiloh. These groups hold enormous brutal meetings, prominent in self-mutilation, these citizens are almost never seen in public. They meet in the shadows, and are incredibly morbid for one to lay their eyes upon. Prophets are the last line of Acolytes, found inside Shiloh.
  • Originally junkers, the Zealots are war-mongering mental-patients. Focused on establishing as many outposts and areas for potential cities like Shiloh. The Zealots are unorganized, and extraordinarily unpredictable.

LEAGUE

 An abysmal lack of ethics, and disregard of law and order. LEAGUE has set themselves in stone as an organization built on the ideals of securing a future of perfection and prosperity of strictly themselves. Hidden behind a strict code of anonymity, LEAGUE is built up of perhaps a hundred of wealthy Middle-Weight citizens. It prides itself on infiltration and ruthless attacks directed at its competition. 

 Businesses with rivaling products or ideas are usually attacked and slowed by what LEAGUE calls Pets. Employees that have showed excellent performance and are officially deemed worthy to be under one member of LEAGUE. Directly serving the work given to them. Usually, when a job is needed, random street thugs or lethal citizens are recruited with an objective, a reward, and disposable tools depending on its needs. Sometimes assignments are more long-term and sophisticated. Such as climbing a corporate ladder and ending other Businessmen when they’d least expect it. Pets are usually allowed to meet and or attend meetings between LEAGUE members. As they are more or less an official member of the group itself. Though, rats and less reliable ones are excluded from meetings.

LEAGUE to some degree even has control over the police force and agencies easily manipulated. Such as rebel groups and anti-government organizations. Along with tight grasps upon unimportant gangs and groups. Like pawns in a game, these groups are usually manipulated in schemes that lead to profit on the end of any member of LEAGUE.

However, it’s petty rulers do have their own flaws. While LEAGUE is closely grouped together and try to work together, it is often that Inner-Circles of LEAGUE butt heads, a popular method of doing this is killing a rivals pet. Or even taking them out personally. Sub-Groups have formed, but nothing has been as prosperous and organized as LEAGUE itself. LEAGUE was formed multiple years after RAPTURE established Shiloh, after businesses rose and classes divided, the worms and immoral blank faced suits grouped together in a borderline crime syndicate, carrying out bloody operations to keep money flowing. 

     Like a triangle. LEAGUE has only three objectives. Power. Protection. And profit.

The Antioch Defense Force

ANTIOCH is the result of countless treaties and pacts formed to protect ANTIOCH. Many clans came together to create a defense force to defend the fledgling city, and now today, those treaties coalesce in the form of the ANTIOCH Defence Force. The ADF is the current makeshift government tasked with defending and keeping order in ANTIOCH.

They patrol the streets, and the perimeter of ANTIOCH, scouting for any signs of RAPTURE Troops. They are a volunteer force, with the exception of clan troops being donated and integrated into the Defence Force. This is their downfall, as constant bickering over what the ADF is supposed to be and does, keeps it from expanding out into the wasteland. Conflicting interests of the different clans keeps the system in Gridlock.

Many think that the ADF should become independent, and form a temporary military junta to wait out the storm of RAPTURE. Others think that clan rule keeps the ADF from forming into an Authoritarian regime, like the one found in Shiloh. Whatever the future that lays ahead there will still be soldiers marching down the streets to protect those who cannot protect themselves.

The Antioch Defense Force
